SCP-4999: "Death's Comfort"

Item #: SCP-4999
Object Class: Safe

SCP-4999, circa 1973. Photo taken by professional photographer Gustav Bürger, three minutes before his death.

Welcome back to SCP: Uncovered, where we take SCPs and explain them. Today is one that is short and sweet. We're going to move away from the horrible terrifying death-inducing devil incarnates that are other SCPs. and instead, look at one that is surprisingly reassuring. For this one, there isn't going to be any vocabulary needed to understand it, as it is relatively straightforward.
Special Containment Procedures
Due to SCP-4999's unwillingness or inability to appear before more than one person at a time, in addition to the subsequent and immediate death of any who witness it firsthand, SCP-4999 is effectively self-containing. Any reports of SCP-4999 manifestations captured by security camera feeds, photographs, or similar are to be investigated, and the media confiscated for analysis. All secondhand witnesses among the civilian populace are to be amnesticized.
What this says is that there is no need to contain it. It only appears in front of one person at a time, and even then, the person is already near death at the time of its appearance. In the rare case that someone else does see it, they just need to be memory wiped, or amnesticized. On to the description!
Description:
SCP-4999 is a humanoid entity of unknown composition, visually resembling a middle-aged male. Its physical appearance varies, with its dark suit being the only constant between manifestations. Due to the rarity of recorded SCP-4999 manifestation events and the highly specific circumstances in which they occur, little data concerning its nature or intent is available; however, its behavior is consistent across all recorded sightings.
SCP-4999 will manifest only in the presence of one solitary human person at a time. All subjects recorded to date have been in terminally poor health, critically injured, or on their deathbeds, with SCP-4999 appearing nearby and within sight of the individual not more than 20 minutes before their expiration. SCP-4999 will only appear if the subject is conscious and alone. It will not appear if the subject is comatose, asleep, or unconscious; nor will it appear if they are being cared for by, in the company of, or otherwise being directly observed by another person.
Let's take a look at this. SCP-4999 is a humanoid entity that resembles a middle aged male human. The physical appearance of it differs, but he always wears a dark suit. He only manifests when there is nobody around the terminally ill or injured who is 20 minutes away from dying or less. He will not appear if the person is unconscious, nor will they appear if they are being cared for or being directly observed by another person.

That tells us why there's no reason for official containment other than amnestics. Anyone who sees him directly is going to die anyway. However, it does bring up the question of why it does this. Hopefully the rest of the description can answer that.
Upon manifestation, the entity will seat itself directly adjacent to the subject's bed, if such furniture is available. If not, it will remain standing or sit on the floor/ground in whatever configuration will allow it direct physical access to the subject without causing disturbance. Once situated, it will remove a pack of cigarettes from its left inside jacket pocket and offer one to the subject. If the subject accepts, SCP-4999 will place it between their lips, remove one for itself, and light both. If the subject declines, SCP-4999 will light and smoke the cigarette instead. The entity will make physical contact with the subject, typically via holding their hand, placing its hand atop theirs, or resting its hand on their shoulder.
SCP-4999 will then remain with the subject, silent and unmoving, until they have passed away.

SCP-4999 has not been seen to engage in any other activity or behavior, and demanifests immediately upon the subject's death. The subject's cigarette, however, will remain, providing the only physical evidence of SCP-4999's presence.
No subject thus far has been seen to recoil from or otherwise resist the entity, nor have any attempted to engage it in conversation, despite multiple instances of subjects acknowledging the entity's presence via eye contact, adjusting posture to reciprocate or facilitate the entity's touch, breaking into tears when noticing its presence, or verbally thanking the entity when offered a cigarette.

That was a long read. Let's summarize it for those who don't wish to read the entire thing. Once SCP-4999 manifests, it seats itself next to the subject's bed, if such furniture is available. If it isn't, then it will stay standing or sit on the ground, depending on which would give it the most access to the subject without disturbing them. It will then take out a pack of cigarettes and offer one to the subject. If the subject accepts it, SCP-4999 will take one out for itself as well and light both of them. If they decline, SCP-4999 will simply light and smoke one instead.

It will then make contact with the subject, holding their hand or resting their hand on their shoulder, remaining there until the subject passes away. There is no record of it doing anything else to the subject, and de-manifests soon after the death of the subject. Multiple subjects have been seen to acknowledge the entity's presence by thanking it or breaking into tears.

I know, not much of a summary. However, it is important that you understand the details, as it adds to the story. SCP-4999 is, unlike many other SCPs, harmless. It doesn't have an ulterior motive. All it does, is reassure the subject that someone is there for them in their last moments.

It appears that SCP-4999 has a preference of who to go to.
Individuals affected by SCP-4999 share a number of common attributes. Research into identified subjects has indicated that SCP-4999 is more likely to appear if an individual:
  • lives alone
  • is nonreligious
  • is impoverished or homeless
  • displays a history of mental illness
  • is a military veteran
  • has no criminal record, or has never been convicted of a violent crime
  • has no currently surviving family
  • is unmarried or otherwise lacks a significant other
  • has little to no social standing in their community
  • does not exhibit any record of significant professional or personal accomplishments
  • has few to no mutually beneficial interpersonal relationships,
or exhibits qualities and life history that have rendered the individual nondescript, anonymous, neglected, or otherwise unremarkable or insignificant by the standards of their respective society.

SCP-4999 goes to those who have nothing going for them, and reassures them. As you can see from those attributes, SCP-4999 goes to help those who are ignored and neglected by society in their final moments. Wholesome.

That concludes this week's SCP:Uncovered. Next week, we'll be going back to the more intense SCPs with a 001 proposal!

tl;dr: SCP-4999 is a wholesome scp with a wholesome job doing wholesome things.

SCP-3309: "Fade, Fade Away"

The Chihuahuan Desert post PROJECT: TAPERED SPEAR

Welcome back to SCP: Uncovered. Today, we're going over a slightly complicated SCP. Compared to some of the SCPs we've gone over, this one's not too bad. However, it is VERY metaphysical, and even gets into pataphysics. Let's begin with some vocabulary.

  • Metaphysics: A branch of philosophy that gets into the principles of things and is often abstract. It also can mean to refer to itself. An example of this would be:

"Do two red blocks share a universal property of the color red or do they have their own instance of having the color red? That is to ask is there a universal thing called "the property red" that exists in more than one place at one time or is there no such thing?"
  • Pataphysics: Metaphysics, but one step ahead. It's metaphysics of imaginary phenomena in a world without metaphysics, or "The science of imaginary solutions," from the American Heritage Dictionary
  • Ontokinetic: A SCP-wiki created word for entities that can bend the laws of reality anomalously, deliberately or not.
  • Thaumiel: A class given to any SCP that can be used to contain other SCPs, most of the time Keters.
With that out of the way, let's start!

The SCP begins with a warning from the Pataphysics department.

NOTICE FROM THE PATAPHYSICS DEPARTMENT

The file you are about to read, 'SCP-3309,' describes an unpredictable narrativic anomaly intersecting with multiple subnarrative layers. Narrativic inoculation is required, as this document contains several embedded narrativohazards. Personnel not inoculated against such anomalies may undergo a narrative paraphrasing event. Are you sure you wish to proceed?
Narrativic inoculation disseminated.

Sometimes we don't fade until it's too late.

Until we've withered, withered, down to the bone. And at the end, there's nothing left to fade. It's forgotten. Memories, hopes, dreams, we're forgotten. How do we know that people can even have these memories, these hopes, these dreams? How can we be forgotten if there was nothing there in the first place? We fade from the minds of others, but not from our own. We live with it until we can't live any longer. Until we forget that there was ever any way we could live in peace. And then, that's when we fade away.

Fade, fade away.

Inoculation complete. You may proceed.

What a nice, friendly warning. The inoculation is supposedly to prevent you from undergoing a "narrative paraphrasing event." Combine that with how much they're talking about narratives and pataphysics, it's relatively easy to assume that this entire SCP is about some kind of narration or narrative. Now, what exactly is a "narrative paraphrasing event?" No clue as of yet, so let's keep going.

Special Containment Procedures:
All documentation regarding anomalies affected by SCP-3309 is to be preserved in a rewritten format and kept within the RAISA archive database. Following the containment of an instance, all personnel assigned to the affected item must undergo amnestic treatment and transfer to unrelated projects.
So SCP-3309 affects documents. Apparently, we can change the effects by simply rewriting the document. However after doing so, everyone assigned to containing the anomaly must forget about it, as seen by "undergo amnestic treatment and transfer to unrelated projects." We'll see why in the description.

Description:
SCP-3309 is a phenomenon in which catalogued anomalies spontaneously disappear. Items affected by SCP-3309 have included anomalous objects, entities, locations, and conceptual structures. Anomalies affected by this phenomenon do not appear to be directly related; SCP-3309 activity is indicated by a note (designated SCP-3309-1) of unknown origin.
48 hours before the disappearance of an anomaly, SCP-3309-1 will appear appended to the end of the object's document. Documents undergoing SCP-3309 become wiped from all known file systems, including Protected Site-01 and RAISA archives. After this, the anomaly itself becomes effectively neutralized, or otherwise disappears entirely. The contents of SCP-3309-1 are as follows:
If you are not the author and you want to rewrite this article, you may reply to this post asking for the opportunity to do so. Please obtain permission from the author.
SCP-3309 affects back-ups created for disappearing documents. SCP-3309 also affects documents of anomalous items coming into contact with SCP-3309—approximately 71% of disappearing documents are connected to other non-affected anomalies. This leads to a weakening in the Foundation's anomaly containment network, potentially escalating to an ADK-Class Full Anomalous Destabilization scenario.

Now, the contents of SCP-3309-1 are quite familiar to readers of the SCP-Wiki. It's the standard deletion process of articles that just aren't good or popular. When an article on the SCP-Wiki's rating dips below -10, standard deletion occurs and that article is removed.

What does this mean? SCP-3309 is, quite literally, the process of deleting articles on the SCP-Wiki. It's getting really meta in here.

Now, in the first addendum, it shows a vote from the Tribunal, a council formed by the Ethics Committee. It's a vote to use SCP-3309 against anomalies that could threaten the safety of anyone. The vote barely passes, and PROJECT: TAPERED SPEAR is authorized.

First, they try to use it on SCP-4463. SCP-4463 is apparently an anomaly that is turning parts of the Chihuahuan desert into wetlands, and can flood North America if given enough time.

To weaponize SCP-3309, they edited SCP-4463's article to have many grammatical errors, to have unrelated pictures, and fabricated addenda. Immediately, SCP-3309 took effect and erased 4463 from the face of the earth. After testing it on 19 anomalies, they permanently set SCP-3309 to Thaumiel. Hooray!

If that was the end of the story, this SCP probably wouldn't be very popular. It has an interesting story, but it wouldn't end on any note besides the "We got rid of the thing that was going to kill lots of people" cliche. Luckily, it's not. Meet Researcher Adamo Smalls.

Smalls is suspicious about where the neutralized anomaly goes, and how it goes away so easily. A little bit... too easily. Here's a note that he wrote:

Researcher Note:
I don't understand how one round of testing can burden a man with so much stress. I think I even saw my first grey hair this morning, or an entire patch of grey hairs? No, surely that's unnatural? I don't feel natural right now. I don't feel alright. But so early on in my tenure?
Fading to dust, what does that feel like? Would it burden my senses in the same way an illness might? Or might it leave me numb? I think, if I was to go out, I would want to continue to feel, even into my final moment. To know that I'm still here, as everything else fades away.
I'm not alright.
I've locked myself in my office. I'm going numb. This isn't what I would have wanted. But the end doesn't care about one man's wants and needs, does it? There is nothing, nothing.
Did we ever find out where those neutralized anomalies went? Surely it can't be so easy, to do what we did, to feel justice without any repercussions. That's unlike us. But it feels like everyone, everyone except me, forgot what happened to those anomalies. Is it that simple? Have we simply forgotten?
I don't want to be forgotten.
— Researcher Adamo Smalls

Smalls is feeling... numb. Like he's fading away. Remember the notice?

Let's move on to the final addendum. The final addendum is simply a conversation between 2 researchers, with a bit of a twist.

Researcher Smalls did not show up during the latter parts of our testing this evening. He no longer appears on any of our itineraries and his name has been expunged from my project files. If there has been an immediate project alteration or a change in schedule that I was not informed of, please notify me immediately.
— Researcher John Calzaroli
Researcher Calzaroli, are you alright? Yes, there was indeed a 3-hour schedule change, but a "Researcher Smalls" has never been involved with this project. Further, I assure you that someone named Researcher Smalls does not work with us. Please, John, take a break, the stress must be getting to you. Testing has been absolutely rigorous these past few weeks. I feel it, too.
— Researcher Robert Woods
I'm sorry, you're mistaken. You must know the man. He's the most exceptional memeticist we have.
But, if you truly claim that there is no Researcher Smalls, well, there must be something more to this. SCP-3309 erases anomalies and the files associated with them. We haven't discussed where exactly these anomalies go, and I'm sure we've all had our questions. As far as I can remember, Smalls was assigned to investigate SCP-4463 when it was first discovered.
Are we sure personnel aren't also being deleted?
— [DELETED]
What the hell?
— Researcher Robert Woods
[FROM: ACCOUNT DELETED]:
[MESSAGE DELETED]

Oh no. Smalls was right. There are consequences to using SCP-3309. Not only does it delete everything on the targeted SCP, it also deletes personnel working on it. Who knows how many people the Foundation has killed by removing 19 whole SCPs, each with personnel working on them.

Now, where did Researcher Smalls go? Why is this SCP considered Pataphysical if all it does is refer to the SCP-Wiki site? These loose ends are tied up if you scroll further down.

It's a forum. The SCP Forums to be exact. Every deleted SCP and person gets sent to the Forums, where the deletion vote takes place. SCP-3309 is not only an article in the Wiki, it's also THE wiki itself. That's why it's pataphysical. It works beyond what you would consider metaphysics. To finish, type anything you want in the text box that shows up at the bottom. It always says the same thing.

And so the question remains: are you worth remembering?
tl;dr: Every time you do something on the site, God kills Researcher Smalls. Except you're God and you're doing it, you monster.

SCP-2470: "The Void" Part 2/2

Item #: SCP-2470
Object Class: Keter

Tags: CognitohazardInfohazardK-Class ScenarioKeterMind-AffectingObservationalRu (Russian)SCPTelepathicTranslation

A Black Hole with Space Ripples

Welcome back to another SCP: Uncovered, and also, Part 2 of SCP-2470. If you haven't already, read Part 1 so you can understand what's going on here. We left off with the description and how it was capable of devouring ideas and physical objects. This led to extremely strange and complicated containment procedures. Now to continue!
Many researchers really want to research this... thing. However, the Foundation doesn't let them (for obvious reasons). So all they can have are hypotheses. From these hypotheses, they theorize that SCP-2470 is a ZK-Class End-of-Reality scenario (read vocabulary on Part 1 for more details). The short way of describing this is that, if let loose, it will consume all of reality and end it.

Now, they already found out a way to neutralize this enormous threat to all of reality, by using Weißschatten’s paradox. Through this definition-less paradox, they can insert a destructive memetic agent that bypasses its senses. So why haven't they already done that?

After reading a bit further down, you'll see a small drop down section asking for a level 4 validation code.
According to another hypothesis, the idea of SCP-2470 as a cognizing entity is not quite correct, as a ZK-class scenario can leave behind neither any knowledge of the current existence, nor any entities possessing such knowledge... From this perspective the cognizing nature of the object appears to be merely an illusion, caused by its dualistic position relative to the "forgetting" nature of the universe... From this point of view the effectiveness of the developed neutralization seems very dubious.
That was a long-winded explanation as to why the proposed way of neutralization probably won't work. To simplify, the hypothesis states that SCP-2470 probably can't learn or understand anything at all, meaning that any method to neutralize it by using memetic hazards (sensory hazards) or infohazards (dangerous information) probably won't work.

This does present a new question though. Why haven't they tried it at all? Surely an attempt to neutralize a ZK-class end of reality scenario can only be a good thing, right?

Skipping past the recovery log, we see an O5's message to everyone at Site-141.

Dear colleagues!
After the command of Area-141 informed me of certain popular perceptions among your community, I saw it right to explain certain particularities regarding our policy on SCP-2470.
Yes, this object is exactly as dangerous as you were told or, probably, even more. Thus far our only salvation was the fact that the embryonic state of its mind cannot comprehend many of the things we consider obvious: that air is not nothingness and exists not just when it feels a breeze, that Earth is a celestial body of a finite size, that the Sun is not a flat shining spot on the horizon, that people, despite how different they are, all represent humankind as a whole, and so on.
Yes, it is essential to keep the object in complete isolation and to avert any transmission of the most insignificant information at any cost. It learns very fast and we can never be sure which grain of knowledge it lacks to be given a nudge to the ideas of space, time, infinity and universe.
Yes, it is both difficult and dangerous to contain such an object, and yes, we do possess a procedure of its neutralization. Why are we not engaging it?
The reason is because the containment itself is of a huge strategic value to us. The thing is, according to research on this subject, simultaneous occurrence of two ZK-class scenarios is fundamentally impossible. Therefore, as long as one of them is being contained, we guarantee that the others, which might not be so easily controlled anyhow, will not happen.
In fact, we were very lucky that this object took a form that can be contained at acceptable cost, so it would not be sensible to lose such opportunity. Therefore, containment will be carried out as long as we can manage, with neutralization being planned only for such an extreme case when the object's direct threat will be big enough to negate all of our prospects of carrying this policy out in the future, along with the future itself.
Through thick and thin you have to know that your work guarantees humanity's continued existence. Treat it properly.
Secure. Contain. Protect.

Sincerely yours, О5-█.

So what does this entire thing mean? The first part is the O5 telling the employees of Site-141 of the policy on SCP-2470. He admits that it is dangerous to keep something like this around, and that they do have a process of neutralization.

Why hasn't he already ordered the neutralization of one of the most dangerous entities the Foundation has found? It's because SCP-2470 is a ZK-class scenario, and there can't be more than 1 at a time. Otherwise, what would happen if one of them met the other? Would one overpower the other? Or would one simply vanish? There's no way of knowing, as they literally operate outside the bounds of reality.

This is why they believe that if they contain this one ZK-class scenario, they can effectively stop any other ZK-class scenario from happening.

The second addendum simply tells you about how they plan on neutralizing it, and it's nothing special. Now, the final addendum is interesting.
This document is intended for the medical staff of Area 141 only. Divulgence of any details contained herein is to result in termination. Any other employee displaying knowledge of the contents of this document is to be (aside from an appropriate disciplinary action) treated with an A-class amnestic and transferred to another Foundation facility.
The medical staff of Area 141 are to pay extra attention to psychological health assessment of employees during periodical personnel surveys. Aside from disorders that are natural for conditions of strenuous work, special effort must be put into discovering the following complex of symptoms:
  • Repetitive dreams featuring an abstract pulsing and growing black mass, identified as SCP-2470 by the examinee;
  • Total lack of any dreams soon thereafter (in less than a week);
  • Flattening of affects, progressive indifference to surroundings, and reactions becoming mechanical;
  • Repeating episodes in which the examinee looks at a common everyday object for a long time with an uncommon curiosity.
A lack of any discernible dreams lasting for two weeks is considered a sufficient warrant for a suspension and quarantine assessment. The quarantine implicates a termination of any forms of communication with any personnel not involved in the process of assessment.
To ensure reliable diagnosis, a trust relationship with the personnel is to be set and maintained. It is recommended to present the practice of regular discussions of dreams as a preliminary phase of psychological survey, aimed at distraction from the current situation and relaxation. The keen interest in nightmares can be explained as a search for hidden reasons for nervousness and analysis of suppressed fears.
The aforementioned diagnosis should be given top priority for personnel involved in procedures taking place inside the containment volume and central shells, and especially for those who spent unscheduled time inside for whatever reasons. The latter are to be quarantined immediately and thoroughly examined for no less than two weeks. Everyone who spent more than an hour and a half inside the outer shell or more than an hour inside the inner shell are to be considered to fail the inspection, regardless of observed state.
All diagnosed cases are to be processed as soon as possible. Employees with diagnosed symptoms are to be put in an artificial coma under pretense of an insignificant surgical intervention, given two complete cycles of D-class amnestic treatment, and subsequently euthanized by a neurotoxin injection and cremated. The rest of personnel are to be given a cover story implicating that the employee is dismissed for medical reasons and transferred to another Foundation facility.

What does this mean for the staff of Area-141? This document shows that contact with SCP-2470 can sometimes cause a reaction in which people become... afflicted with some sort of ailment. This ailment is clearly a huge risk to people within the area, so medical staff are to immediately terminate, or kill, these afflicted people. Nobody else is to know that they are dead either. I wonder how many people within the area know someone that is "dismissed."

SCP-2470 is considered by many to be one of the most complex SCPs out there, due to the extensive containment procedures and complex wording within the entire article. It's not exactly my favorite article, but it definitely needed some uncovering.

SCP-2470: "The Void" Part 1/2

Item #: SCP-2470
Object Class: Keter

Tags: CognitohazardInfohazardK-Class ScenarioKeterMind-AffectingObservationalRu (Russian)SCPTelepathicTranslation

Quick Note: This SCP was originally written in Russian, but was later translated to English. Personally, I felt that they did a great job of translating, but if there are any sections that are a bit vague, this would be the reason.

Welcome back to another SCP: Uncovered! Today, we're going over a behemoth of an SCP. This SCP consists of nearly 5000 words and uses a lot of SCP Wiki vocabulary. So here they are, in no particular order!

  • K-Class Scenario: In general, K-Class Scenarios describe apocalyptic scenarios. However, they're classified in different ways that depend on the severity and/or the way the apocalypse comes about. It's largely unregulated so definitions of each one varies. A good one to follow is this one.
  • Infohazard: An anomalous effect that triggers when the anomaly is described in any way. You don't have to sense it in any way to receive its effects, you just have to know it exists. This also affects data written about the anomaly.
  • Cognitohazard: A (normally dangerous) anomalous effect that triggers when you sense it using any of your five senses. An example would be going insane after smelling something, or tasting something that made you get a heart attack.
  • Amnestic: A drug that makes you forget. Severity of the drug depends on the classification.
That should cover most of it. Let's get started!

The Special Containment Procedures is... long. 2300 words long. Here's the important stuff.

To facilitate containment, Area-141 has been established at the site of discovery. On-site personnel are responsible for both containing the object, and protecting Area-151 from any and all outside threats.

The central containment volume of Area-141 headquarters is a hyperboloid shaped room with a lower base diameter of 55 meters, upper base diameter of 42 meters, and 36 meters in height. There are 2 concentric icosahedron-shaped shells installed, with diameters of 8 and 12 meters respectively. There is to be high vacuum within the shells maintained by turbomolecular pumps.
An Icosahedron (20 Sided Polyhedron)

A Hyperboloid

Area 141's power supply consists of no fewer than two independent external sources. The area within the inner concentric shell consists of the following:

  • 2 spontaneous decoherence generators (spec. product 2470-a)
  • 3 zero-veil generators (spec. product 2470-b)
  • a telepathy suppression device, created using SCP-███
It is essential to keep full stock of the aforementioned devices. In case stock supplies diminish, replacement devices are to be manufactured by Foundation facilities with the highest priority.
So everything about containing SCP-2470 is extremely complex, and for good reason. There's actually 1 more section to go over, but it's all just complicated jargon about the procedures of going into and fixing the shells. It also talks about how people can only communicate to the outside using hand signals.

On a more interesting note, they apparently throw extradimensional SCPs into the chamber in case of emergency breaches in an attempt to slow down its progress by forcing it to analyze objects that don't follow this universe's laws.

Let's check the description to see what's going on with this SCP.
Description:
SCP-2470 is a specific existential entity, or a perceptive element, which is objectively an initial manifestation of a ZK-class scenario. Due to insuperable obstacles related to its perception, the object's appearance, if it has any, remains unknown. Its current locus is determined indirectly, based on the area of effect it produces.

Said effect is manifested through the instantaneous disappearance of any object or event perceived by SCP-2470 from objective reality.
To simplify, SCP-2470 is a black hole of information. Anything perceived by SCP-2470 disappears from objective reality. It basically vanishes, never to be seen again. That's why the Foundation has so many precautions when it comes to containing this SCP.

During the initial recovery of this SCP, the sound of the recovery agents' footsteps started disappearing. Soon afterward, large volumes of air started disappearing, causing hypobaric (lack of air) effects. What followed was the disappearance of the agents' legs, and finally, the agents themselves.

Smokescreens that were deployed also started disappearing, along with smoke grenades of the same type around the area, regardless of distance. Disappearance of soil created a crater of 200 meters deep to manifest at the location of discovery.

Also in the description was:
According to the analysis of gathered data, it was reasonably established that the object possesses the following senses:
  • A perception of electromagnetic radiation in an extremely wide frequency range, including the visible spectrum.
  • A highly sensitive perception of mechanical stimuli, which is analogous to tactile sense and hearing.
  • A perception of [DATA EXPUNGED]
The following senses are reasonably likely to be possessed by the object:
  • A direct, yet severely limited, telepathic perception
  • A perception of certain quantum effects, particularly quantum superposition of states as a singular phenomenon.
Basically, it has the sense of touch, hearing, and vision beyond our own. Not only that, it has the potential of having telepathy and some sense of the quantum scale. Also hypothesized in the description is something called Weißschatten’s paradox. Basically, the paradox is how they contain the SCP. The paradox occurs when you perceive it, which then destroys your ability to perceive anything. The details aren't listed, but this paradox makes SCP-2470 "close its eyes."

There are about 4 more sections I have yet to go over, but they are complex and require additional insight. As for now, this explanation ends here. Don't worry though, as always, part 2 is coming right up!

To be continued...
